The divorced Su Hang body swapped to the married Su Hang (3)

***

When the car arrived in front of the hospital, Shen Xi's doctor was already at the entrance with some nurses. The doctor examined Shen Xi's condition, then told the nurses to put her onto a stretcher and push her into the delivery room.

Su Hang followed them all the way into the delivery room. He looked at the obviously pained Shen Xi, and anxiously asked: "Doctor, how is my wife? How is she?"

"Mr. Su, don't worry." The attending doctor, Dr. Qin, comforted him. "Although Mrs. Su is going into labor two days earlier than expected, she's in good condition. There shouldn't be any problems during the delivery."

"Ahhh...Ahhh!" Shen Xi couldn't help but scream as the pain in her stomach intensified.

"Shen Xi, Shen Xi, what's wrong?" Su Hang rushed towards the bed, and after seeing that Shen Xi couldn't reply, went to harass Dr. Qin. "Doctor, take a look at my wife. She looks like she's in extreme pain."

"Mr. Su, Mr. Su, calm down." Doctor Qin didn't know whether to cry or laugh. "How can giving birth not have some pain involved? Mr. Su, this is your second child. Why are you still so nervous?"

"Then...what should I do? Is there any way to relieve the pain?" Su Hang asked.

"Hnng!!" Shen Xi desperately grabbed the quilt on her body and tried to endure the pain.

"Shen Xi..." At her scream, Su Hang disregarded the doctor and threw himself onto the bed. He grasped Shen Xi's hand and said: "Don't grit your teeth. Here, bite me instead."

Su Hang placed his other hand towards Shen Xi's mouth.

Shen Xi frowned. Enduring the agony she was feeling, she looked at the man beside her, who wholly flustered. It turns out that whether it was the Su Hang in her last life or the Su Hang in this life, they both act exactly the same during their children's birth.

"You...get out." Shen Xi gasped.

"I..." Su Hang had always been afraid of making Shen Xi angry, but this time, he hesitated to follow her words. "I'm not leaving. I'm staying right here next to you."

"Get out...Ah!" Shen Xi couldn't help but let out another shout of pain.

"Does it hurt? What should I do? What can I do? Doctor, doctor!" Su Hang looked back towards the doctor for help."

"She only just dilated, so this will take a while." Doctor Qin told him.

"Doctor Qin...Doctor, please...let him...go..." Shen Xi saw that Su Hang wasn't moving, so she asked the doctor to make him go.

"Mr. Su, you should leave the room first. Otherwise, you could affect Mrs. Su's concentration." Doctor Qin said.

Su Hang really didn't want to leave, but when Doctor Qin told him it could affect Shen Xi's mood, he could only go in dismay. Of course, he headed towards the huge glass window immediately after.

"Mrs. Su, take a deep breath. Try to save your strength." Doctor Qin couldn't help reminding Shen Xi of this when he noticed her too-tense shoulders.

Doctor Qin watched as Shen Xi slowly exhaled and then took a towel from a nearby medical rack to wipe Shen Xi's forehead. When he turned, he immediately saw Su Hang's worried face practically plastered against the glass window. Doctor Qin laughed, somewhat amused. "Why aren't you letting Mr. Su accompany you this time?"

"Last time...huff..." Shen Xi took another deep breath. "When he was there for the birth of the twins...after going back...he didn't hold them for three months. He's still awkward with them...to this day."

"Pfft..." Doctor Qin and the nearby nurses laughed.

Doctor Qin opened his mouth, intending to make fun of Su Hang a little more, but then he suddenly felt a cold chill down his back. He turned his head and saw Su Hang, looking at him with burning eyes that could melt steel. Doctor Qin immediately rearranged his expression to look more serious and told Shen Xi: "Mrs. Su, don't be nervous. This is your second birth, so the process will be a lot smoother."

"I know...I'm not nervous." Shen Xi replied.

She might not be nervous, but her husband was extremely nervous. She could feel his fierce aura through the thick glass wall.

The next time Shen Xi shouted in pain, Su Hang hit the glass window. After doing it enough times, Doctor Qin started to worry that Su Hang might end up shattering the thing. Mrs. Zhang was outside with Su Hang and tried to calm him down at first, but found that the more she tried to persuade him, the more irritable he became. In the end, she simply sat down in silence.

"Xiao Xi, Xiao Xi..." Suddenly, Father Shen and Mother Shen ran into the waiting room.

"Dad, Mom." Seeing Father Shen and Mother Shen arrive, Su Hang tensed.

"Why...why do you look so pale? Did something happen to Xiao Xi?" Mother Shen immediately thought of the worst when she saw Su Hang's helpless expression.

"What's wrong with Xiao Xi?" Father Shen began to worry too.

"Mr. Shen, Mrs. Shen, Shen Xi's alright. The doctor said that she can give birth naturally and that she's in good condition." Seeing that Su Hang was scaring Father Shen and Mother Shen, Mrs. Zhang hastily explained the situation. "Sir is just too nervous."

"That's good." Mother Shen's heart eased. She glanced at her daughter in the delivery room and saw that Doctor Qin was calm, so she put down most of her worries.

"Let's sit down and wait." Father Shen led his wife to the chairs, and the couple both sat down.

Mother Shen glanced at Su Hang, who was fixed in place like a wooden stake. She couldn't help but say: "Su Hang, come and sit down for a while, ah. Childbirth will take at least a few hours."

How many hours? How many more hours does Shen Xi have to hurt like this? Su Hang's fist hit the glass.

"Sir, please don't destroy our public facilities." A passing nurse stopped.

Su Hang stared at the nurse until the woman ran away.

"Look at this silly boy." Mother Shen had to smile. At the end of the day, any mother would be glad to have a son-in-law who was this invested for her daughter's well-being.

"No more. No more, no more, no more children." Su Hang muttered to himself as he stared at the situation inside.

"Didn't he say the exact same thing when ZuoZuo and YouYou were born?" Mother Shen turned to Father Shen.

"Nn." Father Shen nodded. If he hadn't wanted a granddaughter, and if Shen Xi hadn't wanted a daughter, maybe he would be saying the same things as Su Hang.

As time ticked forward, second by second, Su Hang's eyes never left Shen Xi. As long as Shen Xi showed a painful expression, he would squeeze his fist, the urge to beat the useless doctor inches away from bursting forth. Every time Shen Xi shouted, it was as if his heart was being crushed.

Finally, with a loud cry, the doctor walked out, holding a little newborn girl.

"Su Xian..." Before the doctor could even finish his sentence, Su Hang ran past him. Doctor Qin blinked, then calmly held the little princess out towards the grandparents. "Mr. Shen, Mrs. Shen, you have a very healthy and beautiful little granddaughter."

"Good, that's wonderful." Father Shen and Mother Shen lovingly peered down at the little baby.

"Shen Xi..." In the delivery room, a trembling Su Hang grasped Shen Xi's hand. Looking at her pale and bloodless face, Su Hang's heart had turned into dust. "Does...does it still hurt?"

"Su Hang..." Shen Xi was exhausted, so her voice was a little weak.

"I'm here, I'm here." Su Hang quickly replied.

"Have...have you seen our child?" Shen Xi asked.

"I..." Su Hang didn't. As soon as those delivery doors opened, he had rushed in to see Shen Xi. Su Hang didn't tell her this though, as he intuitively knew that Shen Xi would be angry.

"I'm tired. I want to sleep." Despite Su Hang's silence, Shen Xi already knew the answer.

"Of course. Rest." I'll accompany you. Su Hang quietly added this sentence in his heart.

"You...go see the baby, ah. When I wake up, I have something to tell you."

"Alright." Su Hang tightened his hold on her hand, then gently let go. The nurse transferred the sleeping Shen Xi into the VIP ward, and Su Hang watched them go. After sitting there for a long time, he stood up. He started walking to the pediatrics department to see his newborn daughter.

Shen Xi gave birth to a very healthy baby, so after the hospital finishes all their examinations, the child can be brought back to the mother. Su Hang stood in front of the transparent cradle, looking at the tiny wrinkled baby wrapped in pink clothes. He frowned.

"Don't worry, her facial features just haven't fully opened yet. After a few days, her skin will become white and tender. Your daughter looks quite particularly delicate, so I'm sure she'll be quite the beauty in the future." A nearby nurse saw Su Hang's frown and thought that he was worried that his child wasn't very good-looking, so she tried to explain.

"I know. She'll be lovely and beautiful." Su Hang replied, thinking of the first time he met Shen Xi. How old was Shen Xi at the time? Around three years old. She was adorable. As he remembered this, Su Hang's frown gradually softened.

This was his' and Shen Xi's daughter. Will she grow up to look like her mother?

"Can I...touch her?" Su Hang asked the nurse.

"Yes." The nurse nodded with a smile.

Su Hang carefully stretched out a finger and poked his daughter's little hand. It was so soft, so small and incredibly cute. Even if this was a dream, Su Hang figured that he will never forget this softness for the rest of his life.

"Baby, if only you were my daughter." Thinking of reality, where he would be divorcing Shen Xi, Su Hang felt sentimental and wholly reluctant to leave this dream.

The nurse had found Su Hang quite handsome, so she lingered near him. As a result, she accidentally heard what he had whispered. Caught off guard, the young nurse covered her mouth and ran away. She had to share this juicy gossip with her friend, ah!

Su Hang stayed with the baby for a long time. Eventually, he figured that it was probably almost time for him to wake up. He left the pediatrics ward and went back to Shen Xi, wanting to speak with her before leaving. However, Shen Xi was very tired and was still sleeping when he arrived. Su Hang sat by her bed and quietly looked at her. After hours, upon hours of waiting, Shen Xi's eyelashes finally trembled.

"Su Hang?" When she didn't immediately feel her husband next to her, Shen Xi instinctively called out.

"I'm here." Su Hang leaned closer.

Shen Xi opened her eyes and turned her head to look at him. She saw his dry lips, his messy hair, and bloodshot eyes and couldn't help but laugh. "Why do you look more wrecked than I do?"

Su Hang blinked. Almost in disbelief, he said: "You're smiling at me."

Shen Xi was taken aback.

"This is such a wonderful dream. Not only are you smiling at me, but you also gave birth to a child for me." Su Hang happily continued.

Oh. This was the Su Hang from her previous life.

"Have you seen the baby?" Shen Xi asked.

"Yes, she's very pretty. Exactly like you when you were a kid." Su Hang told her.

"How did you feel the moment you saw her?" Shen Xi asked.

"I..." Su Hang paused. Then, in a panic, he lowered his head as tears unexpectedly fell. One of them dripped down onto Shen Xi's hand.

He hadn't cried when he waited for Shen Xi outside the delivery room as she gave birth. He hadn't cried when he saw the baby. But now, after Shen Xi asked him this in such a soft voice, his tears came unbidden. It was so strange.

"I...I don't know what's wrong with me." Su Hang raised his head, two tear tracks on his face. He looked embarrassed, overwhelmed, and vulnerable, all at the same time.

"Su Hang..." Shen Xi felt very distressed. She wanted to wipe his tears away

"No, don't move." Su Hang stopped Shen Xi's hand. "I want to cry for a while.

Shen Xi silently took back her hand and looked at the man as he quietly cried. She didn't know what to do. She didn't know what to say to comfort this version of Su Hang

"Can you tell me about it?" After some time, Su Hang seemed to stabilize his emotions. With a smile, he asked Shen Xi: "About us.

"What do you want to hear?" Shen Xi asked.

"I want to hear it all. I want to know everything that happened after our marriage. All the little, everyday things." If he refused to sleep, maybe he could stay in this dream a little longer. Su Hang wanted to know everything about this life before he woke up. He wanted to wake up from this dream without regret.

"Alright. I'll tell you." Shen Xi leaned back on the bed and softly recounted the story of their life, in both lifetimes. She watched as Su Hang's expression changed from surprise, to wonder, to joy. By the time Shen Xi finished, his eyes were shining bright.

Shen Xi didn't know whether this Su Hang would stay here or eventually go back. But in any case, Shen Xi sincerely hoped that her story would help him in some way.

She wanted to tell this man that Shen Xi, in a dream or out of it, will always love him.
